For immediate release

SUBJ: Independent Ky Chairman Michael Lewis to run for Ky House District 35 seat.
LOC: Secretary of State office Frankfort, KY
DATE: Monday August 9, 2010
TIME: 11 am

On Monday August 9, 2010 Independent Ky Chairman Michael Lewis will file his official candidate paperwork to be on the ballot in November's general election for the KY House District 35 seat.

As you may recall Mr. Lewis brought National attention to Louisville during the recent primary race when CNN came to town to do a feature story on Michael Lewis in his efforts to gain independent voters a voice in the primary election process in KY. During this interview a now famous quote by Senator Juliann Carroll brought shame to KY when he stated that "if you don't like the way America runs its political system, then you need to move to another Country."

Fueled by his desire to ensure all voters are given the opportunity to vote in KY during primary elections ,Mr. Lewis has now taken this fight a step further by deciding to challenge Jim Wayne for his House District 35 seat.

Hello Friends!

Over the last 9 months Independent Kentucky has worked to develop a network reaching all corners of the great Commonwealth of Kentucky. We have partnered with allies, and built coalitions through the hard work and determination of our members and friends. This organization like many others has been built off the hard work and passion of volunteers, and the pockets of the founders for the love of a common cause…Kentucky!!!

Independent Kentucky holds its own sovereignty like any independent organization, but it’s our relationships with other states and active leaders around the country that make us so effective within the movement. Our Friends at Independentvoting.org and CUIP have led Independent organizing for the last 30 years and pioneered the standard for rallying Independent support. This political phenomenon has the nation taking notice, and Independents are taking full advantage of the attention. CNN witnessed our struggles and Independent Kentucky made national news, now we must build off that momentum to sustain our collective voice and bring to light the issues that plague this State’s forward progress.

To move forward we must place one foot in front of the other and identify what we as Kentuckians want. We don’t need to argue over smaller or larger government but demand a more proficient body leading this country and state!

Louisville Metro Council nominates Independent Dr. Deonte Hollowell!

After the sudden and untimely passing of long time councilman George Unseld, Metro Councils places Independent Hollowell on the Council.

Deonte Hollowell is a collage professor at the University of Louisville, Spalding and Jefferson Community Collage. This is his first experience with Louisville politics but believes he can represent Metro Council District 6 with a fair and unbiased leadership answering to the people and not a party.

We have learned that Councilman Hollowell has declined caucus invitations from both parties.

Independent Kentucky has already met with Councilman Deonte Hollowell and looks forward to working with him in the future!
